In view of this report, and having regard also to the cost of upkeep of a house when built, I am of opinion that the project of building quarters should be abandoned and that the Medical Officer in charge of the Gaol should be given a house allowance and be required to find his own quarters as hitherto, within 10 minutes journey of the Gaol.

4.

Pending the building of quarters it would be but reasonable to allow Dr. W. B. A. Moore to draw the house allowance which the Medical Officer in charge of the Gaol has hitherto enjoyed. I have therefore allowed Dr. Moore to draw such an allowance at the rate of $720 per annum as from the 1st instant subject to Your Lordship's approval. I have, however, in this connection to call Your Lordship's attention to correspondence ending 2781 with your Despatch No. 129 of the 6th July, 1906.

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient humble servant,

[Signature: Amaz?]

Officer Administering the Government.
